The purpose of this course is to test the student's ability to evaluate critically a specialized topic both orally and in an essay form. Objective This lecture focuses on the the current development of vaccinology.

The purpose of this course is to test the student's ability to evaluate critically a specialized topic both orally and in an essay form. Objective To facilitate students in writing a scientific paper by acquiring the skills necessary for writing up a manuscript for publication
Course Special topics for biotechnology in immunology Course Special topics on herb/phytocompounds & immunology
Objective To understand the basic concept of immune-related experiment and practice the protocols. Objective 1. To explore the bio-activities of chinese herbal medicine and phytocompounds. 2. To learn the basic concept of extraction or fractionation of compound or mixtures from medicinal plants. 3. To understand the interaction between immune system and herbs.
Course Special topics on tumor immunology Course Special topics on biomedical statistics
Objective Focuses on the ability of innate and adaptive immune responses to recognize and control tumor growth. Topics include: tumor antigens, tumor immunosurveillance and immunoediting, tumor immunotherapy, cancer vaccines and dendritic cell therapy. Tracks the historical developments of our understanding of modulating tumor immune response and discusses their relative significance in the light of current research findings. Objective In this course, Basic statistical concepts and knowledge will be taught. Basic statistical tests, for example two Sample t test、paired t test、analysis of variance、chi-square test will be discussed. Other topics including linear regression, nonparametric methods are also elucidated. Also statistical software like SPSS maybe can be used by students. So in the future students can apply all these knowledge and skills to their studies and for the long life span they can self-learn any biostatistical methods.
Course Special topics on RNA biology Course Stem cells biology
Objective Recent years have brought evidence of an unexpected wealth of functional roles of RNA in programmed cell differentiation, disease, metabolic sensing, brain processes, and more. Experimental and computational screens yield large numbers of candidate RNAs asking for functional analysis. Just in time with the increased interest in roles of RNA, computational tools dealing with RNA have been sharpened and extended. Skillful use of state-of-the-art computational methods is increasingly important for successful work in RNA biology. Objective This course will cover the most current knowledge of the basic principles of organogenesis including the molecular and cellular pathways leading to normal organ development. Tissue/organ specification, differentiation, and developmental processes, focusing on molecular signals and associated signal transduction pathways and transcriptional regulation will be covered in depth. Depending on the organ, current understanding of the role of stem cells and the molecular basis for congenital disease will be included.
